Random Thought of The Day - Bitterness as Self Poisoning

That's quite a powerful metaphor, "Being bitter is like drinking poison but expecting someone else to get sick" effectively captures how bitterness primarily harms the person holding onto it rather than those it's directed toward.

This saying highlights how harboring bitter feelings often doesn't affect the target of our resentment, but instead consumes our own emotional wellbeing, mental space, and even physical health through stress. The person we're bitter toward might be completely unaware or unbothered, while we continue to suffer from our own negative emotions.

The metaphor is particularly apt because, like poison, bitterness tends to spread through our system, affecting our outlook on life, relationships with others, and ability to experience joy.
